The Television Academy honored Sébastien Hameline with a 2025 Emmy® Award as Immersive Camera Specialist, for his contributions to the Emmy Award-winning program in the category Outstanding Emerging Media Program.

RED Camera — the gold standard in cinema imaging — featured Sébastien's work on their official website with the article "Epic and Intimate: Shawn Mendes Red Rocks Live in VR", spotlighting the production workflows and immersive capture techniques behind the Emmy-nominated series.

The project was created by Meta, Light Sail VR, Dorsey Pictures, and 7 Cinematics — delivering the ultimate front-row seat to a live Shawn Mendes concert recorded at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

Sébastien is a graduate of La Sorbonne, one of the world's most prestigious universities. He reached the Maîtrise level — a distinction achieved by only 10% of students who enter the programme — completing a 100-page research thesis entitled:

"Mythical Precognitions in the Cinema of Hayao Miyazaki"

His thesis supervisor was Charles Tesson, former editor-in-chief of Les Cahiers du Cinéma — the world-renowned French film criticism journal that gave voice to the French New Wave.

Sébastien co-authored a paper published in the ACM SIGGRAPH 2024 Immersive Pavilion proceedings, titled "The Tent: Towards a Future of Spatial Entertainment: Movies you can walk around inside of, with or without a headset."

The paper was published July 17, 2024 (Article No. 14, Pages 1–2) and argues that spatial entertainment is the fundamental technological advancement of our time — one obfuscated by a misplaced focus on VR headset form factors.

Sébastien holds an official certificate of completion for the Metashape Foundation Course for Forensics & Surveying, completed November 14, 2020 — delivered by Accupixel and endorsed by Agisoft, the makers of Metashape, the industry-leading software for professional 3D photogrammetric reconstruction.

Sébastien is a licensed commercial drone pilot, holding the FAA Part 107 sUAS (small Unmanned Aircraft Systems) certificate — the legal requirement for any paid drone operation in the United States. He trained through the Pilot Institute, one of the most respected FAA exam preparation providers in the country, graduating with the Class of 2023.
